Overgaauw Chardonnay 2010
Starting with its beautiful lime-tinged pale gold colour, the wine offers a mélange of citrus, crisp pineapple and honey suckle aromas with a touch of fresh biscuit that follows through onto a complimenting, mouth filling palate. The citrus and pineapple continue on the aftertaste with a pleasant zing on the finish. The well integrated oaking albeit 100% wood fermented in French barriques plus a lengthy lees contact, places the fruit centre stage. The resulting buttered melba-toast effect adds a silky texture to this delicious crispy drinkable wine that has the potential to age for another 2-5 years.

Overgaauw Semillon 2008
The relatively cool and slow ripening conditions on Overgaauw due to the absence of the warm south easterly winds, have contributed greatly to the combination of fresh herbaceous, passionfruit, grapefruit and waxy aromas of this wine. These flavours are all present on the palate and continue onto a pleasing aftertaste that lingers on after a crisp refreshing finish.

Overgaauw Merlot 2009
The Overgaauw Merlot is still made in its original ’Cape European’ style. David selects certain pockets within the vineyard showing great fruit concentration reflecting the uniqueness of Overgaauw’s Merlot. It is a well structured, medium bodied wine with a rich combination of sumptuous black cherry fruit, hints of celeriac, dark mocha chocolate and elegant spicy oak notes from the 18 months in French oak barrels. The fine but firm tannins are complimented by a mouth filling fruity and lingering complexity. While this Merlot can be enjoyed now it invites another 7 years in the bottle when it should reveal a pleasant surprise to those with patience. Decant this wine 2 hours prior for optimum enjoyment.
